The Sims 4 game is hosted on an online platform named Origin. Meaning in order for you to be able to play you must be connected to wifi and online. Since online access is required to play, origin then releases multiple updates fixing bugs, and graphics and sometimes even introducing new aspects of the game. For example, in all the sims prior to Sims 4 toddlers were included in the gameplay as a playable character. After many of us, Sims lovers complained and argued, they finally decided to add toddlers back into the game but this time it was added through an update rather than us having to pay for a game pack. But with having consistent updates in the game it can also cause glitches and create more bugs than there were before.

My question now is would you prefer game packs or updates? In the Sims 3 and 2, if you wanted to add to your Sims game you had to get expansion packs which cost money. Despite this, both of the sim’s base games were equipped with a majority of the tools you would need to play. Whereas in the Sims 4, the game needs to be constantly updated and custom content added to it in order for the game to be “playable”. Some may argue that the advantage of getting a game pack rather than an update is easier and it can feel more encouraging to have a physical version in front of you rather than a digital one. It’s an interesting concept and I’d really like to know your personal preference!
